Visual and Performing Arts
The arts have been part of life from the very beginning. They have described, defined, and deepened human experience. All people have an abiding need for meaning--to connect time and space, experience and event, body and spirit, intellect and emotion. We create art to make these connections, to express the otherwise inexpressible. A society without the arts is unimaginable. (WCPSS Arts Education)
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
“After a ten-year study, the results indicated that students who study music achieve higher test scores, regardless of socioeconomic background.” - Dr. James Catterall, UCLA
Our goal in the CMS Band & Strings Program is to achieve the highest level of musical excellence by providing each student with knowledge of music and enhance skills that will help them become mature musicians. We will benefit the school and community through public performances of quality music while promoting and enhancing musical knowledge. We will foster the development of character traits to include a strong work ethic, personal integrity, and respect for self and other while providing a positive emotional outlet for each student.
