Carroll Dress Code Policy:The following information is a review of Wake County Public Schools’ and Carroll’s Dress Code Policy:

- Straps that are too narrow (must be at least 2” wide over each shoulder)
- Shirts that are too low in the front/back (should be even with underarms in front and fully covered in back).
- Strapless shirts.
- Attire with messages or illustrations that are lewd, indecent or vulgar or that advertise any product or service not permitted by law to minors.
- See-through clothing; attire that exposes cleavage.
- Any adornment such as chains or spikes that reasonably could be perceived as or used as a weapon.
- Any symbols, styles or attire frequently associated with intimidation, gang activity or violence about which students at the school have been notified.
- Bare midriff shirts (area around stomach and lower torso should be covered completely. No stomach area or lower back area should be exposed).
- Skirts/shorts/dress too short (should be at least past the halfway point between the top of the leg and the knee-typically at the end of the longest fingertips if arms are held down by sides of legs).
- Leggings/jeggings/tights (or anything that is so tight that it could be seen as a leggings/jeggings/tights) can only be worn with skirts and shorts (see above for length requirements) over leggings - not by themselves.
- Pajamas or blankets. Students who are in violation will be asked to change clothes. Parents will be notified to bring appropriate clothes to the student. Students who consistently violate the dress code are subject to additional disciplinary measures.

Students and parents should be advised that teachers and administrators will exercise appropriate discretion in implementing this policy, including making reasonable accommodations on the basis of students’ religious beliefs or medical conditions and adding additional examples if necessary to clarify our policy.
