Carroll Leadership in Technology Magnet Middle School |
Good afternoon Carroll Cougar Leaders! This is your principal, Ms. Keech with next week's announcements. A copy of this transcript will be shared through the Carroll Yahoo Email group. The weekly announcements are coming early for you due to the Labor Day Holiday on Monday (there will be no school on Monday).
Cougar athletes and families, tryouts for football, soccer, volleyball and cheerleading have already started or getting ready to start. Please make sure that you are checking our website for those dates and tryout information. Information pertaining to clubs and other activities may also be found on our main page on the Carroll Website. Parents please review with your children our dress code expectations. They were sent home to you this summer and you will also find a copy in your child's agenda. If your child comes to school in violation of our dress code, they will be asked to change or to get a change of clothing before proceeding to their class. Please help us keep the school safe and in compliance with district and federal safety expectations. Cougar families, Target has a promotion going on right now in which if you go to Target.com to the "Give With Target" button and vote for Carroll Middle, Carroll will get a $1 for every vote to go towards school supplies. You can also get to it through Facebook. Please help us get money for school supplies and vote today. Block scheduling is coming. Your children have probably shared with you by now, that we gave them a two week transition period before going to block scheduling. We are planning on transitioning to the blocks on Sept. 11th. Prior to that transition, students will be given their block schedule and their teachers will discuss it with them so that they will be prepared for the first day. Home Base Parent Portal (the new data system replacing SPAN) will be going live on Sept. 16th. We will be passing out the information pertaining to log-ins and etc. during the students' LEAD time prior to Sept. 16th. We hope that you all have a safe and happy holiday. That's all for now. Goooooooo Cougars!

Good Afternoon Carroll Cougars!
This is your principal Ms. Keech with an important announcement. A copy of this transcript will be provided through the Carroll Yahoo Email group. This year, we have had an increase in the use of our carpool. Due to traffic problems being created on Rowan and Six Forks, the Raleigh Police Department has stated that you may no longer make left hand turns into our carpool lane. You will need to continue down Rowan if you are entering from Six Forks and turn around in order to come up the right hand side towards the school carpool lane. Cones have been placed to help guide you. Please also note that according to tresspassing laws and city street ordinance, you also may not park in the First Citizens Bank parking lot or the street and have your child cross over or get in the car from the sidewalk. If you do park in the bank or on the street, you are subject to citation, jaywalking and towing. Please use our carpool line in a safe and orderly manner and you will find that it will flow faster and safer. Again, please review our carpool procedures provided to you in our summer parent packet. Thank you for your support in this change of procedure in accordance to RPD direction and for the safety of your children and our students. Good Afternoon Carroll Cougars! This is your principal, Ms. Keech with this week's announcements. A copy of this transcript will be shared through the Carroll Yahoo Email Group.
What a great first day! We began our morning with an exciting ribbon cutting ceremony welcoming our students to the new Carroll Leadership and Technology magnet middle school. Students also had an opportunity to "Begin with the end in mind" (which is one of Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Leaders". I saw lots of happy faces on our student Cougar Leaders and I am sure that they are at home sharing with you now about their great day. We did have a few schedule "glitches" as anticipated but please note that we are working hard with your students to resolve any problems. The only schedule changes that we are looking at right now are for students who had holes in their schedule in which a class had not been schedules, the incorrect level, assigned to a different team for a core class or LEAD or they may have been scheduled for the same class twice. Any other schedule changes, students will have to complete a schedule change request form that will be provided to the LEAD teachers on Wednesday. Please also note that you may contact your child's counselor if you have any questions or concerns pertaining to your child's program. Just a few reminders as we start up school again: Please remember to review the carpool procedures that were mailed to you in the parent summer mailer. If everyone will abide by those procedures, carpool will be much safer and faster. Also, please make sure that you are reviewing with your child our dress code that was also included in the summer packet. And don't forget, the first bell this year rings at 7:20 am with the tardy bell ringing at 7:25. Please make sure that your child is on time to school each and every day. Please also make sure that you are reviewing our google calendar located on the front page of our web site for any upcoming events. That's all for now! Goooooo Cougars! We are getting really excited for the start of school and can't wait to see all of your shinning faces. As a reminder, on Wednesday, August 21st we will be holding our schedule pick-up day. However, we will be doing something different this year than we have done for the past two years. On that day, students will only be getting their team and homeroom assignment (first period). They will not be receiving their full schedule until the first day of school Monday, Aug. 26th in their homeroom (first period). You will find that this is actually in alignment with several other middle schools in our area. The reason that we are changing this procedure is the State of North Carolina changed the computer scheduling program this spring and as we are checking schedules, we are discovering errors. Therefore, we want to give your student the best and cleanest schedule possible the first time so that they will not have to request multiple changes and corrections. If you have any concerns or questions pertaining to this change please contact your child's counselor. On Monday, August 26th (the first day of school) at 7:00am we will be conducting a special cermony recognizing the New Carroll Leadership and Technology Magnet Middle grand re-opening. We will have special guests and a ribbon cutting. So don't be late. That's all for now.....Gooooooooooo Cougars! |
