Carroll Leadership in Technology Magnet Middle School |
Good Afternoon Carroll Cougar Leaders! This is an important message from your principal, Ms. Keech. A copy of this transcript will be shared through the Carroll Yahoo Email group.
This morning as a result of a communicated threat we received, we had an increase in police presence. Because we take every threat seriously, we followed our district protocals pertaining to threats to our safety. At security and police advice, we did not proceed into a code Yellow lockdown and school proceeded as normal. Please contact your child's counselor if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you.

Carroll families we began our spirit week this week today with Character day. Students and teachers came dressed up as their favorite characters. Tomorrow is Twin Tuesday and our Pep Rally and PTA fund-raiser kick-off, Wednesday is "Dress to Impress", Thursday is "Throw-Back Thursday" and Friday is "Extreme School Spirit Day". Please note that due to the assembly in the afternoon that tomorrow will be a "C" day which will make this Friday a "B" day. On this Thursday, October 2nd we will be holding our 6th grade PARENT "411 meeting" in the media center from 5-6:00. Come and have all of your questions answered pertaining to Interim Reports and etc. If you would like to volunteer but don't know how, immediately following the 6th grade Parent "411 meeting" at 6:00, we will be hosting a "Volunteer Orientation" session. Please come and hear all of the ways in which you can volunteer. We will also walk you through the Volunteer registration process at that time. Please continue to check our website for upcoming events and activities. That's all for now! Gooooooooo Cougars! Good afternoon Carroll Cougar Leaders! Let's make sure that we set the tone for kicking off spirit week by showing our school spirit and participation! We will also be having our Pep Rally on Tuesday with a kick-off for our big PTA fundraiser. So make sure you show your school spirit each day and pay attention to what the next day's theme will be. Thursday, Sept. 25th will be a Teacher Workday. Students will not be in school that day. Please also note that our teachers will be in training that entire day and not available for conferences. When students return to campus on Friday Sept. 26th it will be a "B" day on their schedule and not the usual "C" day due to the Thursday workday. Parents of 6th grade students, please make sure that your child has had their TDAP immunization and turned in the documentation of the TDAPto our student services office by this Wed. Sept. 24th or they will not be allowed to return to school on Friday, Sept. 26th unless they bring documentation of the immunization. Cougar families, we are invested in our students and wish for them to be as successful in their academics as possible. Therefore, please help us in reminding our students that we have procedures and practices in place for their safety as well as for the best learning environment possible. Dress code violations and continual tardies to class are not something that we look forward to spending our days enforcing. Please make sure that your child is dressed in accordance to school rules (located in the front of their agendas, memo sent home in the summer mailer and posted on our website) before leaving home each day and encourage them to be on time to each and every one of their classes. Parents we would like to encourage you to become more involved in your child's school and volunteer. All volunteers (new and returning) must go on-line to register (you may go to any WCPSS media center ) by October 31st. After October 31st, individuals who were previously approved will have to submit a new online registration application with a new criminal record check. From Nov. 3rd through May18th any new volunteers to WCPSS may register online only on Mondays in any WCPSS media center. Please also note that we will be conducting a Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, Oct. 2nd at 6:00 pm in the Media Center. Please come to learn about volunteer opportunities as well as receive help in registering. Cougar families, please be advised that any student remaining after 2:30 on our campus who is not involved in a club or season athletics team does not have supervision. Please make sure to make every effort to pick your child up by 2:30 or have transportation arranged for them by that time. Please also note that if your child wishes to attend an after-school athletic event that they still must leave school at dismissal and only return for the game start time (most games do not start until 4:00). Please also note that during athletic events, the basketball court and field area are closed to any other activities. That's all for now! Gooooooooooo Cougars! Good afternoon Carroll Cougar Leaders. Parents please remind your children of the importance of getting to class on time each and every period, every day. We have begun our tardy sweeps and if your child is tardy, they will begin to face consequences, not be able to participate in the untardy party and you will begin to receive phone calls from the school addressing their tardy. Our first football game is this week Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 4:00 against North Garner, here in our stadium. On Thursday, our ladies volleyball and soccer will be at North Garner. We wish all of our student athletes good luck and hope to see you at the games. Please to continue to review our website for upcoming events and news, as we have many upcoming events and afterschool activities taking place and we love for our students and community to be involved. That's all for now. Goooooooooo Cougars! Good Afternoon Carroll Cougar Leaders! This is your principal, Ms. Keech with this week's announcements. Carroll Families, don't forget that this Thursday is our "Meet The Teacher" and "Dinner on the Lawn" event. Dinner will begin at 5:00 with Chick-Fil-A followed by a brief PTA meeting at 6 and "Meet The Teacher" at 6:30. Looking forward to seeing all of you here. Parents please remember that students may not be dismissed after 2:00pm from our front office. You must sign your child out before 2:00pm. We are also still accepting 5$ for the student agendas. Please send in your money ASAP and a receipt will be sent home with your child. Please also remind your students how important it is for them to be on time to class every day. If they are not in class on time, they are not using all of their time wisely. That's all for now! Gooooooooo Cougars! Good afternoon Carroll Cougar leaders! Carroll Families, do not forget that this Friday, Sept. 5th is our first Early Release day of the year. We will be dismissing students at 11:45 am. Please make sure that your child has transportation home at 11:45. We will not be providing supervision for students after dismissal on Friday due to our entire staff participating in staff development for the rest of the day. Our staff will also not be available for any conferences during that time. We also wish to quickly remind our families that there isn't any supervision on our campus before 7:00 am in the morning or after 2:30 on a regular school day for students who are dropped off early or not picked up on time. Again, please do not drop your child off in carpool before 7:00 am or allow them to stay after school in an unsupervised activity. This also includes children who wish to stay after to play basketball on courts near our track. These students are not supervised and subject to not always making good decisions. Parents we do have a number of clubs and sports that are gearing up in which your children may participate in. Please remind your children to listen to our daily announcements or refer to our website for dates and information pertaining to the individual organizations and sports. Carroll families, please make sure that you have access to Parent Portal so that you may keep up with your child's progress in school. For more information pertaining to Parent Portal access, please contact Student Services (Ms. Leon). Please remind your children to always strive to be on time to class and school. That's all for now! Gooooooooo Cougars! |
